As we stepped into a new year full of goals and big dreams I want to inspire you to lean more into being of “service” in your business. Not just any kind of service. Strategic service.
Stick with me…
Let’s roll the clock back a bit.
Years ago, I met a woman who sold Arbonne skincare. I bought a 3-piece set face wash, day cream, night cream. Loved it. But when I ran out?
I didn’t reorder.
I’d grab a few things at Target or toss some Amazon picks in my cart instead.
Then months later, I’d see her at a networking event and say, “Oh! I’ve been meaning to reorder. Can I get another set?”
And every time, she’d be thrilled. But here’s the kicker…
I gave her a goldmine of marketing advice that cost nothing.
I told her: call your customers about a week before they’re likely to run out. Help them reorder. Offer to check what they need. Stay in touch.
It would’ve helped me stay consistent with the product, helped her boost sales, and built loyalty. But she never did it.
Let’s do the math.
The product bundle was $90, lasting about 90 days.
I only reordered 4 times over 8 years = $360 spent.
But if she had called or followed up quarterly? That’s $90 x 4 times/year x 8 years = $2,880.
Do you see the difference?
This isn’t about skincare. It’s about how a small action serving your current clients just a little better can grow your business without finding new people.
What a Candle Company Can Teach You About Concierge Services
This past holiday season, I bought candles from the Harlem Candle Company (beautiful, Black-owned business go check them out!).
About 30 days after my purchase, I got this email:
“Dear Kellyann,
A month ago, you made your first purchase. We hope you loved your candle! Most customers finish their first within 30 days. Ready for your next? Here are some ideas…”
That. Email. Made. Me. Smile.
Why? Because it’s exactly what I told my Arbonne friend to do all those years ago.
And it’s exactly what I teach inside our 100K Club and write about often like in this blog post on creating raving fans.
Use This in Your Senior Concierge Business
Now, if you’re wondering how this applies to how to start a profitable senior concierge business, hear me out.
Your clients especially seniors want consistency and reliability. So don’t just show up once. Build systems that allow you to follow up and anticipate their needs:
Did you help Mrs. Thompson clean out her pantry last quarter? Add her to a follow-up list and check back in 90 days.
Drive Mr. Harris to doctor’s appointments monthly? Offer to schedule the next visit in advance.
Ran errands for a couple before a holiday? Add a calendar reminder to follow up before the next holiday season.
Be of more service to your current clients. That’s where the growth lives.
This principle is what separates a stagnant business from one that thrives.
In fact, we talk about this kind of strategic action in-depth in this post on boosting sales it’s all about simple, timely follow-up that builds trust and keeps your services top of mind.
Three Simple Steps to Apply This Today
Make a list of your current or past clients.
Ask yourself: What could they need next? What follow-up makes sense?
Set up a system to check in. It can be as simple as a recurring calendar alert or a basic CRM tool.
Not sure what services to include in your follow-ups? This blog can help you choose the right services for your concierge business.
Final Thought: Don’t Overcomplicate It
You don’t need fancy automation or big marketing budgets.
Sometimes the best growth strategy is the most human one remembering someone’s needs, and showing up to meet them again and again.
So whether you’re offering errands, companion visits, or transportation, remember: your clients already trust you. Serve them well, and they’ll stay with you (and refer others too).
