Today I am thinking about Personal Connections.
Our lives are busy. Our work is busy. Do you ever stop and consider how much time has passed since you last connected with someone whose relationship has value and meaning to you? The online world we tend to live in can make us “feel” connected, but sometimes that’s a false feeling.
Feeling connected is one thing. BEING connected is another. Personal connections can be very powerful, whether it be with friends, family OR business acquaintances. Unfortunately, in our busy lives, we can have a tendency to let those connections slip past us.
Take a moment to think about YOUR clients (current and former). When is the last time you personally connected with them? Had a conversation? Told them how much you appreciate them?
This week’s assignment is super simple, yet – most people blow it off!
As you know by now, the key to growing your business is nurturing your relationships and connecting!
But, all too often, people overlook the obvious! I will NOT lie, this is one of those simple “to-do’s,” that I have known for such a long time is so important. But when it came time to pick up the phone, I always found other things that were “more important” (also known as procrastination and avoidance).
So what can you do to increase connection and therefore, sales AND referrals, from your existing clients?
Pick up the phone and say HELLO!!
I know – it’s like a “duhhh” moment, yes? But let me ask you – when’s the last time you reached out and called your existing (and former) clients?
Reach out for no other reason than just saying HI! Wish them a happy day, just take a moment to let them know you’re thinking of them! It’s not too late… you can still wish them a Happy New Year. The idea is to connect with them again.
Sometimes as a business owner, you’re looking for some BIG new sexy idea that you think is going to bring clients flocking to your door – and all you really have to do – is go back to the basics!
But at the same time, the “basics” can seem very elusive to you, right?
Although the “basics” are built on the core understanding that the more you put yourself out there, the more business will come your way. But it’s often VERY hard to do this alone.
