Good business coaches are able to look at a company objectively, ask pertinent questions, and guide the owner through the process of creating a plan for future growth. Consider a business coach your objective third party, the one who can sort through the processes that work and those that don’t work, and help mold the company into a profitable entity without all the painful and often EXPENSIVE mistakes!
For any business owner with a goal of growing their business, they need to be AWARE on the “regular” what’s working, what’s not working and the things that need to change to move the business (and the business OWNER) forward.
Part of business isn’t just “serving clients”, and it’s why I believe SOOO many people FAIL at business.
I know, call me harsh – but you know the statistics just as well as I do ☹
That’s why I started coaching others back in 2015. Every year I watched new businesses “like mine” pop up locally or 1 or 2 towns over, and within a year – they were nowhere to be found…
I truly believe the BIGGEST reason behind failure is that most people get into THIS type of business “thinking it’s going to be easy” or that they can start it “on the cheap”…
Those that I have seen have the BEST staying power and success are those who TREAT their businesses like a BUSINESS and NOT a hobby!
You picking up what I’m putting down?

Today I want to help you THINK more like a business owner and less like a HOBBYIST…
Here’s 3 ways you can make more money in your business.
1. Consistent Marketing is one of the simplest yet MOST overlooked form of money generation.
Most business owners “dabble” in their marketing. They try this or that one week, and try something else another week.
Why? Because most people LOOK to OTHERS to gain their inspiration… especially in this industry! Most people come into this industry and start “copying” others. They come from the belief that “Well, I’ll just do what they’re doing.”
They think, “Oh wow – so and so posted this on FB – I’ll post the same thing”
Or “Oh look – so and so is running a Mother’s Day promo – I think I will too!”

Or “Oh look – so and so is running a Mother’s Day promo – I think I will too!”
BUT what happens in their marketing?
They dabble in it for a bit, then stop.
Then they wonder: “Why didn’t this marketing strategy work for me? Maybe it just doesn’t work for me and my business….” “It must be because I live in a small town”…
Well, when you dabble in your marketing, you’re right! It won’t work. Not because the marketing strategies don’t work, but usually because you didn’t maintain it for long enough.
The businesses that produce the best results (in terms of generating both leads AND sales) are those that are consistent in their marketing.
Those business are regularly communicating clear, consistent messages to potential clients. Not just for weeks or months, but for years.

2. Creating upsells in your sales process is another overlooked place where you can bring in extra money.
Do you typically only OFFER one thing to a customer? Are you offering additional services or follow up packages to your clients? Are you finding creative ways to “offer more”?
Most people expect their clients to KNOW what they need, and in all honesty, most times our clients are so overwhelmed they aren’t even sure HOW you can help them. It’s YOUR JOB as the marketer and the business owner to GUIDE them.
The key is to choose relevant “upsells” that will benefit your customer and that makes sense for what they need or are going through. In other words, don’t make offers that don’t make sense.
So for example – Let’s say you just finished organizing a client’s office! Offering to walk their dog would NOT have the same upsell results as let’s say … offering to do a “monthly maintenance” package to KEEP THAT OFFICE neat and organized!
How many times have you LEFT money on the table in situations like this?

Making more money requires you to ASK!
If you don’t ask, the answer will always be no…
3. Back-end efficiency is important to any business, whether it’s a service-based business or even an online business.
And businesses that waste a lot of time – waste a shit-ton of money!!
This is exactly why there are soooo many “productivity” experts out there now! Because without the proper systems and processes in place, a LOT of money is lost!

I’ll never forget the defining moment in my life when I finally “got it”!
I had been in business for 2 years by then, I remember it was 2012 (or maybe early 2013) and I was sitting at my desk in my “office”. (At the time my office was a shared space in my finished basement lol!)
But here I was. Sooooo excited!! I had JUST signed up a NEW client! So, I sat at my desk and started doing the “paperwork”, created a hard copy “file” with their info and setting them up in QuickBooks. For some reason that day it took FOOOREVERRR…
I swear I sat at my desk for almost 2 hours trying to find my “service agreement” and the “credit card authorization forms” and allll the things I needed to “print out” and get signed by my new client.
I couldn’t find where all my files were, I had some things pre-printed, other things I needed to update before I printed … It just took FOR -ever!!
It was in THAT moment that I finally understood what all those “gurus” talked about! You know, the ones that talk about “systematizing” stuff.
I finally “got it”. And in a moment’s decision, I opened this project management software I was toying with and my “new client process” became my VERY first system I ever created.
Here’s the thing!

Instead of spending 2 hours getting my new client set up I could have been spending that time marketing! And Marketing as we discussed in point 1 – is how we MAKE money.
The key here is to get the “backend” of the house in order!
Lost time is LOST cashola$$
