Let’s go wayyyyy back… It’s 1 AM in October 2010. I’m sitting in my finished basement with my hubby. (My finished basement at the time housed 3 young growing kids, all their stuff, a treadmill, a couch and chair, TV, and 2 desks!) It’s where my husband and I sat every night for HOURRRRS after the kids went to bed to build my VERY FIRST WEBSITE!!
We worked for hourrrrs trying to do this! It was before “build your website” platforms evolved into what they are today. The templates were pretty bad. We had no clue what we were doing. And neither of us are techy, let alone web designers!!

Did you know that over 90% of websites created NEVER actually get found ?? I KNOW right!! Holy shitballs!
The reasons are many. And I’ll go into the reasons WHY most sites never get found in another post in the future…
BUT!
Today I wanna get a little “techy” for you, and help YOU not make the same mistakes I did!
For anyone close to me – they know that “tech” is NOT my jam lol – but I DO know a few things or 5 … and today I want to help you understand your website options and WHAT platform is the BEST for ANY LOCAL based company.
You see, this all came about because we have several new students going through the Ignite Your Business Program right now. It’s a full one year comprehensive marketing course and group mastermind for those in the concierge industry who want to build a profitable business.

Why is WordPress the best platform to use?
- WordPress is flexible with MANY many many themes to choose from
- WordPress is super SEO friendly (that stands for Search Engine Optimization) (That’s why my old 2010 website rarely ever got found- I lacked SEO until I figured out how to create my own).
- They make it super easy to publish blogs and content (which is SUPER important)
- There’s an endless supply of “plugins”
- You don’t need to be an internet expert or an HTML coder
- Super user friendly
- And if you go the route of building it yourself, there are countless tutorials, guides, and videos to help along the way.
Now does this mean that YOU SHOULD do it YOURSELF?
THAT my friend is a question only you can answer!
I learned after my first homegrown website back in 2010 that my time and sanity were worth the investment to hire someone to build it FOR me! You see, the beauty of having a WP site is that once it’s BUILT for you – it’s SUPER easy to make updates along the way (as long as you don’t have a crazy customized theme).
Even if you already have a website my friend – maybe THIS is the reminder you needed to check in it on it, do a backup, update your theme or tweak your content. ?
Whether your website is built on WordPress or not, remember that a website needs to be a living BREATHING machine, and not forgotten about when you hit “publish”.
