The Secret to a Thriving Personal Concierge Business? A Clear Niche

Let’s be honest … choosing a niche can feel really uncomfortable.

It can feel like you’re boxing yourself in, turning away potential clients, or making a decision that’s too permanent. And if you’re someone who knows you can help a lot of different people (which you probably are), the idea of narrowing it down might stir up some serious niche drama.

But here’s what I know for sure: not choosing a niche is what actually keeps you stuck.

When your business is too broad, your messaging feels generic, your marketing doesn’t land, and the right clients don’t see why they should hire you over someone else.

So, if you’ve been spinning in circles, overthinking your niche, or waiting for some magical clarity to drop in… let’s talk about why this happens and what to do to move forward.

Why Picking a Niche Feels So Hard (In no particular order)

  1. You’re afraid of leaving money on the table.
The thought of turning away potential clients feels wrong, right? But when you try to attract everyone, you actually make it harder to get hired. People need to see themselves in your marketing, and that only happens when you get specific.
  2. You don’t want to get stuck in the “wrong” niche.
Choosing a niche can feel like a huge commitment, but here’s the truth: you are allowed to refine and evolve. Your niche isn’t a forever decision; it’s a starting point. But you can’t tweak or adjust something you never commit to in the first place.
  3. You have a lot of skills, and picking one feels impossible.
If you’re multi-passionate, niching down can feel like shutting doors you don’t want to close. But focusing on one thing now doesn’t mean you can’t expand later. It just means you’re making it easier for people to understand what you do and why they need you.

Three Questions to Help You Pick a Niche Without Overthinking It

If you’re feeling stuck, start here:

  1. Who do I love working with?
Think about the clients who light you up—the ones who make the work enjoyable, respect your time, and truly value what you offer.
  2. What problem do I solve with ease?
You don’t have to be the best in the world, just better than the people you serve. Where do your skills naturally shine?
  3. Who actually pays for this service?
Passion is great, but if no one is willing to invest in it, it’s not a business, it’s a hobby. Your niche needs to be a set of people or services that people need and are actively looking for help with.

How I Help Personal Concierge Business Owners Find Their Niche (And Actually Make Money Doing It)

I see concierge business owners struggle with this all the time.
They start out offering everything—errands, house sitting, organizing, companionship, corporate services, mal prep, and calendar management. Thinking that casting a wide net will bring in more clients. But what actually happens? They work too hard, stretch themselves too thin, and feel frustrated because their business isn’t growing the way they expected.

When I started my personal concierge business, I made the same mistake. I thought the more services I offered, the more people I could help. But I learned quickly that getting clear on what I did best (and who I wanted to serve) made everything easier.

That’s exactly what I help my clients do now. Whether it’s getting clear on your niche, refining your messaging, or structuring your services so you’re profitable without overworking yourself, I’ve been where you are, and I know how to help you move forward.
