From "Busy Work" to Financial Productivity
Financial productivity …. Income driving tasks…
If you look at your to-do list today, how much of it is actually moving the needle on your income?
So many of us get caught in the trap of being busy. We fill our days with tasks—checking email, organizing files, tweaking social media posts—but at the end of the day, we wonder, what did I really accomplish?
Here’s the truth: Not all productivity is created equal.
Let’s break it down:
What is Task Productivity?
This is when you focus on crossing items off your to-do list for the sake of getting things done. And if you’re a “concierge” this is your MOJO!!!!
Except that: These tasks might feel urgent or even important, but they don’t necessarily grow your revenue or business.
Examples of task productivity:
Replying to non-urgent emails
Editing Canva designs for hours
Researching online for hours
These things keep you busy, but they don’t move your business forward.
What is Financial Productivity?
This is when you focus on activities that directly generate income or build opportunities in your business for growth. These are the $1000 tasks—not the $10 ones.
Examples of financial productivity:
Following up with a warm lead
Connecting with someone who’s shown interest in your services
Offering a new or upgraded service to an existing client
Showing up in your marketing with clear, client-focused messaging
These are the tasks that move the needle. They build momentum. They fill your calendar. And ultimately? They put money in the bank.
If you want more clients. THIS is where your time needs to be spent.
Why This Matters
It’s not just about working hard; it’s about working on what matters most.
When you shift from task productivity to financial productivity, you’ll stop spinning your wheels and start building a business that feels aligned, impactful, and—most importantly—profitable.
Because let’s be real: It’s easy to stay busy. It’s harder (but so much more rewarding) to focus on the things that truly matter.
Your Assignment This Week
Take a look at your to-do list and highlight the items that are truly financially productive—the ones that bring in revenue or create opportunities for growth.
Then, take it a step further:
1. Choose one financial productivity task and commit to completing it this week.
Example: Follow up with a warm lead or connect with someone who’s shown interest in your services.
2. Identify one piece of busy work that’s eating up your time and energy—and give yourself permission to pause or postpone it.
The goal? To shift your focus and energy toward the tasks that actually move the needle in your business.
