With all the uncertainty, I’ve found that returning to simplicity gives me peace. A sense of grounding. And that’s why I want to talk to you about how I’m moving into 2025 with one powerful intention…
Why I Stopped Setting New Year’s Resolutions
Years ago, I did what most people do: I set New Year’s resolutions.
I’d say things like “I’m going to the gym 4x a week.” Or I’d pretend I was going to give up French fries (yeah right, not happening!).
Or I’d promise myself I’d “get organized” this year. Run more. Drink less. Be more productive.
But in 2015, I gave up traditional resolutions. Instead, I started choosing a word of the year.
This one word becomes my compass for how I want to grow, evolve, and show up in the world.
One year, my word was release letting go of everything that no longer served me.
Another year, I chose expand expanding my reach, my business, my joy.
Last year, in 2020, it was magical. And despite the chaos, it truly was.
My Word for 2025: SIMPLIFY
This year, the word that came to me is simplify.
I didn’t choose it. It chose ME.
And I can feel it in my bones.
It means stripping away the noise. It means focusing on what truly matters.
I want to simplify my offers.
Simplify how we market.
Simplify the daily rhythms in life and business.
It’s about working SMARTER not harder.
It’s about getting back to what fuels me: long walks, open space to think, and working in focused ways that create real impact.
When I simplify, I gain clarity. And when I gain clarity, I amplify results for me and for the people I help.
What Simplicity Looks Like in Business
For those of you building a service-based business especially those starting a senior concierge business simplicity can change everything.
I coach entrepreneurs in the concierge space, and I see how easy it is to overcomplicate things. Offers, marketing, pricing too many moving parts can lead to confusion and burnout.
Instead, simplify.
Simplify your niche. Like offering non-medical home care and errand services for seniors which are in high demand as more families seek aging in place services.

When I choose a word, it’s not just for business.
It’s how I move through the year. It’s a filter for decision-making. A lens to view growth.
So this year, I’m asking myself questions like:
Will this simplify my life and business or complicate it?
Does this align with my intention to make space and amplify results?
Can I teach this approach to my students and help them apply it?
