I want to share some “truth telling” with you today if that’s ok with you?
For the past 2 months, my team has been streeeetchhhhhed! You see, one of our team needed to move out of the area to be with her Mom as she has declined mentally and was no longer safe at home alone. The only thing she could do was to move back to Boston to be with her.
This, of course, was not an easy decision for her, but one that was the best solution for her family at this time.
That also put us in a little pickle because she was managing several clients on a weekly basis and our team each had to take on all her clients and assignments…
Which in a nutshell all worked out but required lots of logistical changes within the team.
Which then puts us BACK into a hiring mode again. I the last 2 months we’ve even had to say no to a few job requests because we just did NOT have anyone available.
This is just PART Of DOING business!
You see – when I first started my business (especially way back when I was only billing 5 -10 hours a week) I could not even imagine “turning away” work. It just wasn’t in my “view” at that time.
Of course, since then, I’ve taken my business from a team of 1 (me) to a thriving team of 8! (Except we’re at 7 right now.)
If you want to learn HOW I took my business from $8K a year to multiple 6 figures – I show you and teach you, step by step, exactly how I did that in our Brand New 6 Month IGNITE your Business Challenge!
If you haven’t registered yet – TOTALLY hop onboard with me and all the others who are gonna ROCK it the next 6 months together! And if you’re wondering if you can “hop in” next month – that’s not an option. The doors close this Sunday and won’t reopen.
But for now, let’s get BACK to the topic I want to share with you this week!
Navigating Business Growth
Going through this business GROWTH was something that was never on my radar – before.
It’s what one of my mentors used to refer to as “new level – new devil!!”
Since then, I have used it to help guide me through when things get a little hard. Or I hit a plateau I haven’t had the “opportunity” to navigate before.
The concept is that right now at THIS moment, your biggest struggle may be to get clients. Or what I hear from many of my students is the “everyone loves the idea but no one is buying” conundrum.
As a side note, I want you to know that YOU are NOT broken. There is NOTHING wrong with you. All of us started in the same place and with the same struggles, so please do NOT give up!
But imagine if you will for a moment that you have 10 more clients than you have right now!! Very exciting – yes?? But then what happens is you’re having trouble fitting them all in. Kinda like we’ve been doing!!
Then, because you’re so busy, you fall behind in billing your clients. This is what is referred to as a “new level – new devil” opportunity.
Having little or no clients is very hard – it’s your “devil” so to speak. But then having 10 new clients becomes a “new level- new devil.”
This is what we refer to in the Academy as a “quality problem,” but it is a bump in the road none the less that you have to get beyond.
The best way to continually and successfully navigate these problems is to always surround yourself with people who will LIFT YOU UP and elevate you. NEVER share these struggles with people who are naysayers – because all they’ll do is try to tell you to give up. And to be honest, even many families (dare I say) don’t know how to support you either … (gulp).
How do I know? Because I have certainly been there too. The more I succeeded, the more people in my life tried to chop me down. So please learn from me and be sure to surround yourself with the RIGHT people who will not chop you down and who will instead be there to hold you up when you hit your NEXT new level-new devil…
What are other examples of new level – new devil have we dealt with in the past?
Let me share:
- Hiring Team members
- Firing Team members
- Firing clients
- Having your website not work
- Needing to take credit card payments
- Online communication tools
- Lack of systems in your business that waste a ton of money
- Getting your email hacked (Oh yeah – just had that one happened a few weeks ago RIGHT in the MIDDLE of me preparing for CALive! Oye! )
- Not knowing HOW to handle a large project
- Falling behind on billing
- Having someone bugger out on their bill (because you didn’t have a contract in place first)
All of these things you can’t even imagine needing to navigate because you may not be at THAT level yet …
But as you GROW you will have to manage how to deal with all these issues PLUS many more.
Growth in yourself and your business requires YOU to always GROW. The best way to do that is to surround yourself with the right peeps so that when you reach your new level, you don’t have to dance with the devil alone.
Your assignment this week
