Many people email me to ask “how to price” their concierge services.
It’s one of the greatest points of “confusion” starting out (and even for some VERY seasoned business owners).
Here’s what “most” people do when they start a business…
Instead of designing their own pricing pyramid, they go and “google” everyone else.
They look to see what “he or she” is charging.
How do I know? Because it’s what I did too…. obviously ??
But here’s what happens.
You don’t think about your own business, your own income goals, location, demographics, OR business model…
In an essence… most people try to “copy” what others do without knowing if that other person is even successful.
I have been teaching people for YEARRRS to STOP charging “by the hour” and to instead build out a “retainer/membership” model. It’s the #1 thing that helped me scale and cross the 6 figure mark several years ago.
But most people who “try” to do this, fail miserably…
Why? Because they don’t understand what goes into building a successful membership model and all the nuances that go with it.
Today, we use a combination of several pricing strategies and I use each one DIFFERENTLY to help me hit income goals…
Looking for long-term growth and profit – I focus on our memberships.
Looking to create cash on demand – I use one of our promotional strategies (it works every time).
Today I want to share and highlight the top 3 ways you can price your concierge services this year. Be sure to read through to the end because I have a way that YOU too can learn EXACTLY how to build out your pricing pyramid too!
1. A La Cart Services
Oftentimes, you’ll have people asking you to do one specific job or task for them. A La Carte works BEST for these situations. You can price the job based on what they need. This could be a flat fee for a specific service or it could be a price per hour for a specific request. This is exactly how we price our corporate wrapping events that we hold or when we partner with another business. That A La Carte or “Flat Rate” pricing works really well for those gigs! I always recommend though that you are only saying YES to work you REALLY want to do AND have the skill-set to do!
This pricing model is GREAT for those one-off jobs but NOT so good at building long-term clients or profitability.
2. Bulks of Hours (Service Packages)
This is great when a client may have a larger project or isn’t sure how to USE your services just yet. You can create a “package” of hours and then help your clients understand exactly HOW to use you and how your services will open up time in their life.
You can get really creative here. What types of service packages would your ideal clients jump up and down for? Is it a small package? Or perhaps a larger bulk package such as a 40 hr. package. You can do whatever feels right to you!
This pricing model is great when you need a quick CASH INFUSION!! Sell a package of your concierge (or organizing) services upfront and deliver later. This helps when you need cash in the door quickly! This is especially useful for yourself when you are ready to invest in something that will help your business grow. Growth always requires cash no matter how long you’re in business, and this is a great model to help boost your bottom line all while giving an incredible service!
3. Retainer Based Packages
In this type of program, clients sign up for a set number of hours each and every month, quarter, or even year! You want to be sure you are “bulking up” what your clients get when they enroll in one of your retainer packages. That’s all part of WHY they want to do business with you over and over. Get creative! What can you add in as a bonus or perk that you don’t share with your A La Carte clients?? Always make your retainer clients feel OOBER special! These packages can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars!! (I’ve even created a $50,000 package!!)
This pricing model is BEST for long-term growth and profitability!! But with this, also comes hiring, firing, and other business struggles you haven’t even considered yet… That’s why working with a mentor long-term is part of MY success!!
