Feel the Fear and Say Yes Anyway
What has pushed you out of your comfort zone lately?
A couple weeks ago, I got a message on a Friday morning. It said:
“Can you do an interview today for my podcast?”
And without skipping a beat, I replied: YES! Absolutely!!
You might be thinking: “Kelly, that sounds just like you!”
But what happened next wasn’t what you’d expect…
I had a full-on mini panic attack.
Yup – ME.
The truth? The idea of being visible still terrifies me. It’s a deep fear that many of us carry what will people think, what if I mess up, what if I sound stupid?
And you know what? That fear has been with me since I started my business back in 2010.
We tend to show up only as much as our fears allow us to.
But letting fear take the wheel? That crushes dreams and goals.
Visibility isn’t just about being seen it’s about standing in your truth. Even when it’s messy. Even when it’s hard. Even when your inner critic screams, “No one wants to hear from you!”
The Inner Critic and Me
My inner critic and I? We’ve been dancing together for years.
First Chamber of Commerce event? I puked in the parking lot beside my minivan.
First video for YouTube? Posted it and refused to watch it for months.
First group presentation? Cried before it started.
The time a speaker coach used me as an example of everything NOT to do in a talk? I was done. Didn’t speak publicly again for 5 years.
And yes… I’ve had full-blown tantrums over making videos. I’ve cried, stomped, yelled, and said, “I’m not doing this, you can’t make me.”
Even my team knows the pattern. They call it out when it starts creeping in.
But despite it all… I keep showing up.
Because I’ve learned something:
Courage isn’t about never being afraid. It’s about doing the scary thing even when your hands are shaking.
So when Susan Hyatt’s team asked if I could do a podcast interview that same day, I said yes before my inner critic had time to protest.
That’s how we grow.
That’s how we build real businesses.
That’s how you learn how to start a profitable senior concierge business not just by creating systems and pricing packages (though yes, those matter), but by choosing to be seen as a leader in your space.
And if you’re growing a business helping aging parents, visibility is key. Being the face of your business builds trust. People want to know you before they invite you or your team into their loved one’s lives.
How You Can Step Into Visibility
I want you to ask yourself:
What opportunity is just sitting there… waiting for you to say YES?
Is it…
Going to a local networking event?
Creating your first video (even if you never rewatch it)?
Doing a Facebook Live to share how you help seniors live independently?
Talking about your concierge services on Instagram or LinkedIn?
Saying yes to speak at a local community center or business event?
Whatever it is, I challenge you to do something that scares the sht out of you* this week.

How Concierge Businesses Can Use AI
Not all visibility has to come from you personally. Discover how tools like AI can help you show up consistently online, without burning out or feeling robotic. How to Talk About What You Do in Your Concierge Business
If the words always get stuck when someone asks what you do, this one will help you craft a clear message, one that helps potential clients say, “Yes! That’s what we need!”
Feel the Fear And Show Up Anyway
Fear is natural. But staying stuck in it? That keeps you invisible.
And invisible doesn’t grow a business.
Especially not one that’s built on connection, trust, and heart-like a senior concierge business.
So if your vision is to help others, to create a business that gives aging adults freedom and dignity, to help their families feel supported—then it’s time to be brave.
Even when your voice shakes.
Even when you want to run.
Even when your stomach churns.
Say YES. Do the scary thing. Be seen.
Because when you say yes… you invite more opportunities in.
And I want to celebrate your brave.
Tell me in the comments:
What’s one scary thing you said YES to this week?
