What To Do When You Don’t Have Enough Clients
Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the advice floating around out there? “You need branding.” “You need a scheduler.” “You must have a funnel!”
Sound familiar?
If you’re in the early stages of building a senior concierge business, all those tactics can feel like the thing that will finally bring in more clients. And yes, all those things have their place eventually. But if you don’t have the foundation in place, you’re putting sprinkles on a cake that hasn’t been baked yet.
I know this firsthand. I fell into the same trap. When I was starting out, I desperately wanted results. I wanted clients, income, freedom. And so, I bought the tools. I signed up for fancy systems. I spent hours on Canva and tweaking fonts.
And still not enough clients. Not enough income.
Why? Because I was skipping the steps that matter most.
Now, after growing two businesses into multiple six figures, I can tell you the truth no “guru” wants to say:
The key to consistent clients is not a logo, it’s clarity and action around a few core business foundations.
These are the 8 steps I teach all my clients and they work for any local service-based business, especially if you’re helping seniors live independently or supporting aging parents.
The 8-Step Framework That Actually Gets Clients
1. Pick a Niche That’s Already Looking for Help
Trying to sell to “everyone” keeps your messaging weak and results spotty. If you want a steady stream of clients, you need to target a specific group like seniors who want to age in place or busy adult children looking for support for aging parents.
If you’re not clear on this yet, check out this post on choosing the right services for your concierge business it will help you align your niche with your offers.
2. Learn to Speak Their Language
Once you know who your “right-fit client” is, your job is to mirror their exact language back to them. Don’t use industry terms or vague benefits. Speak clearly, simply, and with heart.
3. Build an Offer That Solves Their Specific Problem
Generic services like “errands” or “organization” don’t stand out. Instead, create a clear package that answers the question:
“What problem does this solve for my client?”
4. Position Yourself as the Go-To Expert
Why should they choose you? What makes your senior concierge services better than a task app or the neighbor’s teenager? Your unique value might be trust, professionalism, or a specialty in working with the elderly. Own it. Articulate it.
If you’re not sure how to stand out, this blog on how to position yourself in business will give you a strong head start.
5. Take It to the Market and Test It
Don’t stay stuck in the planning phase. You need real conversations with real people. That’s how you’ll know what works and what needs tweaking.
6. Get Proof of Concept
This means a real person (who is not your mom!) pays you for your service. Once someone pays, refine based on feedback and go get your next client.
7. Overdeliver
Once you have clients, your best marketing tool is delivering amazing results and client care. Make them want to refer you.
8. Repeat Steps 1–7
This is business. It’s a cycle. Even as you grow, you’ll loop back through this process to refine, evolve, and scale.
So Why Is This Hard for Most People?
Because between Step 1 and Step 8, you’ll likely experience frustration, doubt, and slow days. That’s when people start chasing distractions. Maybe you’ve thought:
“I should just make a new logo.”
“Maybe I need a new offer?”
“Should I post more on Instagram?”
The problem isn’t that you need more ideas it’s that you haven’t committed to refining what actually works.
